'I have very sensitive, rosacea skin'

I am a final year student biotechnology and combine that with a training to be a beautician
explains Irem very modestly.

Can you introduce yourself?

‘I am Irem Öztunayli, I am 22 years old and I am from Heusden-Zolder. I am starting my final year as a biotechnology student next year and have also started training to become a beautician.’

Why did you choose to combine these two studies?

‘I’m interested in the environment, epigenetics, nutrition, DNA and the link between all of these. But at the same time, I also have a lot of interest in skincare and everything related to it. That’s why I wanted to do them together.’

So how did you end up here as a model?

‘I was contacted because I had done a shoot before, for a jewellery brand. I liked it so much that I didn’t hesitate for this assignment.’
And when you finish both degrees and you have a shot to become a full-time model, what would you choose?

‘Oh, that’s a tough choice. With my degrees I can of course go for security, something that is more difficult as a model though. After all, you can only do that for a few years. Ideal, of course, would be to become a model and then fall back on my degree. I would like that. Seems like a lot of fun.’

What are the skincare products you really can’t live without?

‘Definitely SPF and a cleanser. I have very sensitive skin and rosacea, so I do need products for that too because I have to treat that very well. I found that Craith Lab’s Happy Pore worked really well for my skin type. I have an oily T-zone and with this, larger pores. I do see a difference between the size of my pores after using this.’

A lot of young people pay a lot of attention to social media. Do you invest a lot of time in your social media?

‘Oh no, not at all. It’s really not that I immediately want to appear very professional, I like to be more spontaneous, without having to pay attention to all those little details.’
