Craith stories

'I just wear what makes me feel good.'

I don't see myself always doing the same thing.
When you see Joa (19) standing confidently in front of the camera during this shoot, you no doubt think he is a professional with tons of experience. He has the looks and charisma that every photographer loves. Yet it was only his third time.
You’re still in school, but when we see you like this in front of the camera, you’d think you have a career as a model. Is modelling something you want to pursue in the future?

‘I wouldn’t or couldn’t choose one over the other. I enjoy modelling, but not as a full-time job. But so does Communication & Multimedia Design, the job I’m currently studying for. If I could combine the two, that would be the ideal scenario. I don’t see myself always doing the same thing.’
Do you also follow the latest fashion trends?

‘I don’t necessarily follow fashion, no. I just wear what I feel most comfortable in and what I think looks good on me. So it could well be that other people have a different opinion about it, but I think if I like it I feel good about myself. And if that happens to be a trend then that’s nice. If not, I don’t really care.’

You look good. Do you have a particular routine or is that something that comes naturally to you?

‘I think it’s a combination. Of course, I’m fortunate to have inherited a certain physique or features, but besides that, I’ve been exercising since I was very young, so I’m working on that. And partly also skincare. For example, I received some products from Craith Lab. I have to admit that I don’t use them daily, I’m more likely to use them when I see that it’s needed again. But then they do help quickly to get my skin back in order.’

Do you post on your social media the results of a photo shoot? And what are the reactions like?

‘I will post it as a story on Instagram, for example. I do enjoy a photo shoot, so I like to share it. I don’t have a big platform though, it’s more limited to a smaller circle. So the reactions are not overwhelming.’
